“It is our commitment to immediately establish responsibilities, whoever falls, damn it. What will differentiate us is not what we say, but what we do.” This was the message sent by the President in Charge of Venezuela and the legitimate national Parliament, Juan Guaidó, to all Venezuelans after the discussion and consideration of the Report of the Special Commission to investigate ‘Monómers Colombo-Venezolanos S.A.’ and the Agreement presented by him that included, among other things, restructuring the company.

This Tuesday November 2nd, in the ordinary online session of the Delegate Commission held, the president of the interim government ratified that “Monómeros is and will be of the Venezuelans”, as well as insisting on its “urgent restructuring”.

“We are talking about a Report, a Decree, an Agreement, three instruments on a single theme in a single session, something unheard of for us at so far. The big question is: what are we saying and what are we going to do in the immediate future? What we are saying is clear and evident: beyond the political pugnacity with which the debate has been approached, beyond the political pugnacity with which for 16 weeks this debate has been approached; we must continue investigating and establish responsibilities, we must start an external audit immediately; and we must restructure in the face of the need for transparency.”

He also made a call to “depoliticize” this case and assured that as President in Charge of Venezuela he will take into account the recommendations of the Reports, and not only of those presented today, but also those of the Comptroller and Supersocieties Commission, and will implement them as soon as possible.

“No one can take advantage of his position to the detriment of all Venezuelans. What are we saying today in the legitimate National Assembly where most of the interventions went in this direction? Monómeros is of Venezuelans, and I ratify it, the other thing we state is: transparency and investigate. A debate like this would be impossible in the dictatorship, the alleged TSJ tried to take away the powers in investigation (control), the summons of (government) officials. In the AN we summon officials with a view to transparency, and the next thing we are saying is: we are establishing responsibilities.”

Finally, Pres. Guaidó said that “we must adopt the best practices for the Republic we want to build” and that although a bad apple cannot be avoided, it is our duty to find it.
